With more than 144,000 ceremonies each year, the city of Las Vegas is the undisputed wedding capitol of the country. But aside from the lure of the glittering casinos, what makes Vegas weddings so popular? It's not just because you can arrive, get a license and be pronounced husband and wife all in the same day. It's not only because Vegas is such a fun destination for couples and their guests. It's because Vegas is about dreams, and can make wedding dreams come true for every couple. No matter how you imagine your perfect wedding -- from a formal ballroom celebration to a relaxed poolside ceremony -- everything is possible in Vegas.

The Language Of Love
Expect a completely different -- and much easier -- wedding planning experience if you tie the knot in Vegas. The chapels and casinos in Vegas offer one-stop wedding planning, so you can organize your flowers, photography, officiant, ceremony and often your reception, with one appointment. Wedding planning in Las Vegas focuses on "packages" and "a la carte menus," which are collections of wedding services you can purchase for one set price. Wedding packages generally do not include the reception, although separate reception packages are often available. Most wedding facilities allow you to customize your wedding package by adding individual items or services from an a la carte menu, with each option priced separately.

Casino Romance
Casinos are king in Las Vegas, and most of them have wedding packages to cater to the tastes of every kind of couple. Whether you want to get married in a nightclub, or want a fairy tale day that lives up to your childhood dreams, the wedding planners at the casinos know how to make it happen. With the range of options offered by each casino, your imagination's the limit.

There are a couple of major perks to marrying in a casino. First of all, you and your guests will likely have rooms there, meaning fun is just an elevator ride away. Brides and grooms also get star treatment, and can take advantage of a casino's special amenities. Also, the casinos provide wedding coordinators to do the wedding planning for you. From the catering to your hair and makeup, it's all taken care of -- and all in one place. The only thing you need to do is to remember to book your casino wedding as early as possible. It's true that in Vegas you can get married with less than a day's notice, but there's no guarantee your favorite spot will be available.

Going To The Chapel
If you're looking for something different, check out the Las Vegas wedding chapels. In general, chapels are an inexpensive alternative to the casinos, and also offer the more offbeat wedding options. If your dream is to be married by Elvis in a limo, look no farther than the wedding chapels. The chapels are also excellent for couples looking for the quickest route to husband and wife. With photographers, florists, officiants and even gown and tux rentals all on-site and ready to go, the Vegas wedding chapels truly offer one-stop wedding service.

Every Price Is Right
How much you pay for a Las Vegas wedding is really up to you. You need a $50 marriage license from the Clark County Courthouse, and then you'll find ceremony packages in a wide range of prices -- from less than $200 to more than $8,000 for a lavish wedding.

The Fine Print
Keep in mind that wherever you chose to marry, you will not be the only couple there that day or even that hour. If your package gives you a half hour of chapel time, likely there will be another bride waiting at the door as your ceremony finishes. Also, you should know that most places require you to use their wedding professionals. So while you don't have to hire a chapel or casino's photographer, you might not be able to bring in your own. Make sure you understand the fine print before handing over your deposit.

Whether you plan a playful wedding on the HMS Britannia in Treasure Island's lagoon, or opt for an elegant soiree in the ballroom of the MGM Grand, there's one thing every Vegas wedding guarantees: fun you'll never forget.
